About the CPR/AED Certification Program

CPR AED Certification ProgramThe City of Naperville recognizes the importance of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation  (CPR), First Aid and Automated External Defibrillators (AED). The instruction of non-Fire Department personnel increases both awareness and readiness within the community. This readiness plays a vital role in the chain of survival for heart attack victims. 
 
The purpose of the City of Naperville CPR/AED certification program is to facilitate the education of the general public in the delivery of effective CPR and AED use, in accordance with current American Heart Association guidelines.

The Naperville Fire Department offers certification and recertification classes to laypersons and healthcare providers.  The four-hour classes are $45 per person for residents and Naperville businesses and $55 for non-residents. Upon completion of the course, participants receive a certification card valid for two years.

All courses are taught by Naperville firefighters certified by the American Heart Association. Classes are held at:

Heart Saver CPR/AED 
$45 Residents / $55 Non-Residents

This American Heart Association one-day class is presented for the lay person (non-healthcare). This class will review one person Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation  (CPR) for infants, children and adults. The class also includes instruction on the operation and use of Automated External Defibrillators (AED) for the child and adult victim.  Upon completion of the course, students will receive a Heartsaver CPR/AED Certification Card valid for two years.

Heartsaver First Aid
$35 Residents / $40 Non-Residents

This American Heart Association one-day class is presented for the lay person (non-healthcare). This class will review how to care for and recognize  victims of sudden illness and injuries. Upon completion of the course, students will receive a Heartsaver First Aid card valid for two years.

CPR for Healthcare Providers
$45 Residents / $55 Non-Residents

This American Heart Association class will cover one/two rescuer CPR  for adults, children and infants, choking and rescue breathing. The use of  an AED is presented with hands-on practice. Students who successfully pass the written and skills tests will receive a Healthcare Provider Certification Card that is valid for two years.

CPR Recertification for Healthcare Providers
$45 Residents / $55 Non-Residents

This American Heart Association (AHA) class will review one/two rescuer CPR for adults, children and infants, choking and rescue breathing. The use of  an AED is presented with hands-on practice. Students must present a current AHA CPR card in order to attend this class. Students who successfully pass the written and skills tests will receive a  Healthcare Provider Certification Card that is valid for two years.

  • March 7, 2012, 8:30 a.m.-12:00 p.m
